amnis was selected to join Mastercard’s global Start Path – Emerging Fintech program, a milestone that marks its growing influence in the European fintech landscape. In this interview, Michael Wüst, Co-Founder & CEO of amnis, shares how the company is reshaping business banking — and what the collaboration with Mastercard means for its next phase of growth.

amnis has been chosen as one of 11 startups globally to join the Mastercard Start Path’s Emerging Fintech program. What does being selected for Start Path mean for the strategic development of amnis?

Being selected for Mastercard Start Path’s Emerging Fintech program is a major milestone for us. It confirms that our vision of making international banking effortless for mid-sized companies resonates on a global scale. The program connects us with Mastercard’s network, technology, and expertise, allowing us to accelerate innovation and scale across Europe. For amnis, this partnership is a catalyst for growth and a chance to strengthen our position as the trusted financial platform for internationally active businesses.

Revolut joined the Mastercard Start Path program as a startup back in 2016. Where do you see parallels, and where does amnis take a different path?

Revolut set new standards for private customers, and amnis is doing the same for companies. Almost ten years ago, Revolut showed that banking could be reimagined: simple, digital, and global. Today, we’re bringing that same simplicity to companies, combining smart treasury management, global payments, multi-currency accounts, and automated financial operations like expense and accounting workflows. The ambition is similar, but our focus is different – we empower enterprises rather than consumers.

The B2B fintech space is getting increasingly competitive. What makes amnis’ approach stand out in this environment?

Our strength lies in focus and clarity of purpose. amnis is built specifically for companies that operate across borders – a segment still largely underserved by both traditional banks and modern neobanks. While others try to be everything to everyone, we go multiproduct on the needs of internationally active companies.

Within Europe, amnis stands out as one of the very few fintechs offering local IBANs in various jurisdictions, true multi-currency business accounts, and its own Business Mastercard for global spending – all connected in one platform to empower seamless financial operations. We call it the CFO-Stack: payments, FX, cards, expenses, and accounting automation, unified for effortless treasury and financial management.

By integrating everything finance teams need, we remove complexity, save valuable time, and give companies full control over their international operations. This makes amnis the clear European alternative for companies of all sizes that want global banking simplicity without leaving the continent.

What opportunities does this collaboration open up for your customers and partners, especially across European markets?

Through Start Path, we gain access to Mastercard’s global ecosystem and infrastructure, which directly benefits our customers. It means faster innovation, stronger compliance, and access to new card and payment solutions. For European companies, this translates into smoother cross-border transactions, more transparency, and better tools for managing teams and subsidiaries in multiple countries.

How does Mastercard support you in accelerating your vision of an integrated CFO-Stack for internationally active companies?

Mastercard’s infrastructure and global expertise help us scale faster and more securely. Their experience in payments, network, and partnerships is invaluable as we continue to develop our payment stack – the unified financial workspace. Together, we combine fintech agility with the reliability and reach of an established global network, creating a more connected financial ecosystem.

Which upcoming milestones will shape amnis’ journey to becoming the leading platform for international financial management?

amnis already operates from offices in Zurich, Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam, and Vaduz, giving us a strong presence across Europe and close proximity to our customers. The recent launch of DKK accounts marks another step in supporting businesses across different currency areas.

At the same time, we’re introducing new automation and AI-enabled features and deepening our partnerships within the Mastercard network. Each of these milestones brings us closer to our goal of becoming the go-to financial platform for mid-sized firms that operate internationally. Our vision is simple: to make global financial management as seamless for companies as it is for individuals.

Finally, on a personal note: what motivates you most when you see how far amnis has come since its early days?

Seeing how our platform helps real businesses grow is the greatest motivation. We started amnis because international banking was too complex. Today, thousands of companies use amnis to save time, reduce costs, and gain transparency over their finances. Watching that impact unfold – and seeing how far we’ve come as a team – is what drives me every day.
